DECI – Digital Environment for Cognitive Inclusion

DECI – Digital Environment for Cognitive Inclusion was a research project with the ultimate goal to design and demonstrate the value of feasible interventions on business models in elderly care enabled by ICTs, to be scaled across National Healthcare Systems. The challenge was to spread feasible and sustainable innovations across National Healthcare Systems, enabling independent living solutions for Cognitive Impairment affected people in their homes and sustainable ways of delivering integrated care and social care services. DECI developed new ways to evolve traditional care organization models, through the support of a digital environment model targeted for elderly with Cognitive Impairments based of innovative technologies, information sharing, data interoperability and replicable logics. The project comprised a model validation inside four clinical pilot projects, each featuring a significant number of patients involved within the clinical centers taking part in the initiative.

The DECI consortium, led by Fondazione Politecnico di Milano (Italy), embraced partners from 5 different countries: Consoft Sistemi S.p.A. (Italy), Fondazione Don Carlo Gnocchi Onlus (Italy), Chalmers Tekniska Hoegskola (Sweden), Vastra Gotalands Lans Landsting (Sweden), Servicio Madrileno De Salud - Hospital Universitario de Getafe (Spain), Maccabi Healthcare Services (Israel), Roessingh Research and Development BV (Netherlands). The partnership gathers partners belonging to academias and research institutes, care and social-care providers, healthcare authorities, ICT industry and a broad network of stakeholders. The project was funded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 initiative, the EU framework Programme for Research and Innovation (Call PHC20). The project will last 3 years, from June 2015 to June 2018.
