S.I. P.O.’ F.A.’ in Sierra Leone
The project “S.I. P.O.’ F.A.’ in Sierra Leone” aimed to contribute to the improvement of food security specifically strengthening the networks among different stakeholders and focusing on social entrepreneurship and technological innovation, with a particular attention to the agro-food production chain of the cashew in Sierra Leone. The specific objective of the project was to enhance the agro-food production chain of cashew of the country, mainly through a support to conservation and transformation phases and thanks to the definition of social innovative business models in the regions of Kambia, Bombali and Port Loko.
The project S.I. P.O.’ F.A.’ was funded by Fondazione Cariplo, Comune di Milano and Regione Lombardia through the “Nutrire il pianeta 2014” tender. The partners are COOPI - Cooperazione Internazionale (leading partner), Politecnico di Milano - Department of Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering, Università degli Studi di Milano - Department of Economics, Management and Quantitative Methods and National Federation of Farmers of Sierra Leone. Fondazione Politecnico di Milano, Ingegneria Senza Frontiere Milano and COOP Lombardia cooperated to the project.
STATUS OF THE PROJECT: COMPLETED
The project began in January 2015 and closed in 2016.
