SET4food - Sustainable Energy Technologies for Food Utilization

The Sustainable Energy Technologies for Food Utilization (SET4food) project aims to enhance the capacity of humanitarian actors in identifying implementing and monitoring efficient and sustainable energy technologies for food utilization in temporary / quasi permanent / permanent camps or informal settlements. SET4Food focused on the nexus between food utilization and energy availability, efficiency and sustainability. In particular, the action facilitated the evaluation and the introduction of appropriate energy technologies, through the use of simple-to-apply tools. Indeed a Decision Support System (DSS) has been leaded to the identification of a set of suggested energy technologies, while Guidelines presented their pros and cons, facilitating the final selection. Both the DSS and innovative energy technologies has been tested through several pilot projects. The technical knowledge acquired transferred to humanitarian actors whose understanding further consolidated via e-learning / in-presence training courses and public events.

The SET4food project was financed by the European Commission's Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection department (ECHO) and the partners was COOPI - Cooperazione Internazionale as leading agency together with Politecnico di Milano and Fondazione Politecnico di Milano.
