Giampio Bracchi obtained his degree in engineering at the Politecnico di Milano and continued his postgraduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley.

He is Full Professor of Information Systems and President of the Fondazione Politecnico di Milano.

On the subjects of applications of information technologies and management of financing of innovation he has written over two hundred works including books and scientific articles, in Italy and abroad.

He is a member of the boards of directors of a number of important companies, banks and bodies, and he is president of AIFI, the Italian Association of Private Equity and Venture Capital. He is coordinating the Report on the Italian Financial System of the Fondazione Rosselli, and he is member of the Advisory Committee of the Italian Stock Exchange.

He has served as Chairman on the Information Systems Committee of the International Federation for Information Processing and of the Italian Information Association, and as advisor to the Presidency of the Cabinet of Ministers. He is also a member of the Technical/Scientific Committee of the Fund for Applied Research.
