Today, energy research means having to deal with a field of activity that is utterly vast and which has distinctly multidisciplinary characteristics. The correct and rational exploitation of energy sources requires, first of all, the study of classical issues concerning processes of combustion, thermodynamic cycles, systems for generating, transmitting and distributing electricity and the use of nuclear energy.
Secondly, it is necessary to develop innovative materials, efficient automation and measurement systems, and devices and systems that can use non-conventional energy sources (wind and solar), as well as all measures aimed at protecting the environment and limiting the harmful effects that inevitably accompany every energy conversion process.
