The jewellery and fashion accessory sector has always been one of Italian industry's market leaders. The style, design, and care in manufacturing, together with the technical ability of Italian jewellers, is recognised worldwide. The Gioie e Colori (Joys and Colours) project aims to relaunch SMEs in this sector in Lombardy, by creating a jewellery industry chain that is set to make technological innovation its strong suit. Assisted by research centres that will provide scientific support, the industrial partners will design a line of precious accessories with heretofore unheard-of features, made with exclusive materials, and the result of a perfect synthesis of design, technology and tendency.

The innovation of materials will be implemented by selecting "semi-noble" metals like titanium and zircon and applying advanced shaping technologies (Metal Injection Moulding, Selective Laser Melting, and Vacuum Melting), which were unknown until a few years ago, and finishing technologies of high aesthetic value (unconventional PVD treatments, anodising of titanium, Anodic Spark Deposition, electro-polishing), able provide highly-original colours and textures.
