The project features the participation of the Dipartimento di Chimica, Materiali e Ingegneria Chimica Giulio Natta ("Giulio Natta" Faculty of Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering), the Dipartimento di Meccanica (Faculty of Mechanics), the Dipartimento di Elettronica e Informazione (Faculty of Electronics and Information), the Dipartimento di Ingegneria Gestionale (Faculty of Management Engineering) and of INDACO, as well as large companies like INDESIT Company, STMicroelectronics, Synopsis Consulting, Meccano, Alter, Benco, Ferioli Filippo S.p.A. and other prestigious partners.
The project aims to achieve a technological leap forward to develop a range of home appliances in just 4 years that will feature a 30% reduction in consumption of energy and water for 4 product lines: food preservation, food preparation, washing machines, and dishwashers. The companies and faculties involved will increase their knowledge of techniques of refrigeration, food conservation, thermal insulation (vacuum, aerogel), thin solar films, catalytic combustors, technopolymers, alternative technologies for washing, drying (silica gel, microwave, MSC), filtering, water purification and reuse (AOP), advanced sensor technology and innovative logics (expert systems). A high impact is expected for the entire production process.
