An important project in terms of international cooperation was implemented in 2007 when the Fondazione Politecnico di Milano, in association with MIP Politecnico di Milano School of Management, Borgo della Conoscenza and TILS, promoted a training course on aspects of energy and the environment ("Sustainable Strategies and Programmes for Environmental Management. A training community for European managers operating in the public and private sectors") aimed at managers and experts in the sector, partly from Italy and partly from countries in eastern Europe.

The course, financed by the Ministry of the Environment and Protection of the Territory and Seas, was presented at a road-show held at the Italian/local Chambers of Commerce in: Bulgaria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Republic of Slovakia and Poland.

The training course, which was developed at the Borgo della Conoscenza in the green hills of Tuscany, was given to around twenty participants, half Italian and half from countries in eastern Europe.

The priority objective was to create a proper, functioning international network of experts who, together, would develop common policies for energy and the environment. At the request of the Ministry, this project is shortly to be presented again.
