"Formarsi per crescere" (Training for growth), like the "Innovation and development of the Productive System and of Services - TER" project, was set up in order to promote processes of innovation and development of Lombardy companies and was financed by Fondimpresa, the biggest fund for ongoing training in Italy. Also in this project, the principal target was small and medium-sized companies in the Lombardy Region. The main objectives of the project were: favouring the development of skills, facilitating the professional growth of human capital, and contributing to the improvement of competitiveness of the companies involved.

The Fondazione Politecnico di Milano offered training courses on a wide range of areas: management of innovation, environmental management systems and environmental performance assessment, project financing of innovation, project management: management of company projects, development of human capital: the role of leader, environmental management of enterprise, renewable energy sources: biomass and photovoltaic, ZigBee: the emerging standard for wireless communications, innovation and entrepreneurship, forms of funding for the environment (Green Certificates, Energy Efficiency Bonds, Energy Account), the consolidated environmental Act, legislative compliance, and environmental analysis of productive processes.

"Formarsi per crescere" was run in the period of May 2008 to March 2009. The project was promoted by: Assolombarda, Confindustria Monza and Brianza, CGIL, CILS and UIL, and implemented by: FORMAPER, a special company of the Chamber of Commerce of Milan, Fondazione Politecnico di Milano, EMIT (Ente Morale G. Feltrinelli per l'Incremento dell'Istruzione Tecnica, a vocational education institution), and CFP Vigorelli of the AFOL (Agenzia per la Formazione, l'Orientamento ed il Lavoro, the Work, Orientation & Training Agency) of the Province of Milan.
