The Sprint Lombardia project was set up with the intention of running training courses that supported the development of the Lombardy entrepreneurial fabric, by giving its human capital a new culture of enterprise management in order to compete in a wider international arena.
The project was 100% financed by the European Social Fund, one of the four EU Structural Funds that promote the harmonious development of the EU as a whole and the progressive reduction of the disparities existing between the different population groups and regions of the EU. Thanks to this funding, companies in Lombardy had the opportunity to avail of training courses free of charge.
The Fondazione Politecnico di Milano was chosen as provider of training courses for modules covering the energy and the environment. Among the principal topics addressed were: environmental management of enterprise, treatment of water and waste, forms of funding to help the environment (Green Certificates, Energy Efficiency Bonds, Energy Account), the consolidated environmental Act, and the environmental analysis of production processes. The courses, which were conducted in the period of March to June in 2008, were aimed at employees and freelances operating in Lombardy.
The courses were taught by lecturers from the Politecnico di Milano and expert professionals in the sector. They were chosen based on their expertise and experience in the field, with the goal of reinforcing the distinctive theoretical/practical format of the courses.
