Docet Print version

Recognition of study credits, qualifications and certifications, at European level and with countries in other continents, is an essential prerequisite to facilitating and furthering the mobility of students and professionals in Europe and worldwide. For there to be true recognition, however, it is necessary to have common reference models and frameworks, to provide effective support for increasing the level of transparency of qualifications and certifications.

The Docet project, which was started up with the specific intention of improving and promoting interest in European higher education in engineering, aims to develop and implement a series of tools for the mutual recognition of engineering qualifications, using internationally-recognised frameworks like EQF - European Qualification Framework and CDIO (Conceive Design Implement Operate) as its starting point. The specific objectives of Docet are: to improve the transparency of engineering programmes (for students, universities and enterprise); to support the international mobility of students and graduates; to promote and improve the engineering courses offered by universities in the European Union; and to promote the use of EQF as a tool for the reciprocal recognition of qualifications and certifications between European countries.

The Fondazione Politecnico di Milano, as the commanding body of the project, is coordinating a partnership made up of leading organisations and universities active in engineering: ACET (Associació Catalana Enginyers de Telecomunicació), CEFI (Comité d'études sur les formations d'ingénieurs)Chalmers University of Technology, Politecnico di Milano, Ecole Polytechnique de Montréal, and MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).
