The Fondazione Politecnico di Milano assists the Politecnico in supporting the cultural and professional growth of persons through training and study programmes, in Italy and internationally. The focus is primarily on productive enterprise: observation and analysis activities are aimed at understanding the evolutionary dynamics of the market and anticipating the needs for skills and expertise, and training activities are aimed at providing professionals with the tools and knowledge they need to deal with technological/productive change and with the socio-cultural transformations of Italy's industrial system.
The "promotion of training and development of human resources" area is organised into three working areas:
Ongoing training programmes at a national level, and high-level training programmes at an international level, provide a direct response to the requirements of human resources in terms of professional development, cultural growth and skills updating. Analysis and research activities address: professional skills and training requirements; the definition of standards; and the construction of instruments and reference models. The results of these analyses represent strategic indicators of the market requirements; they provide the Politecnico, Public Administration and enterprise with information on the demand and supply trend of professionalism; and they define the characteristics, skills and expertise of the professional roles in the market.
