Energy transition – Snam, Politecnico and Fondazione renew their partnership
The framework agreement will concentrate on studies and projects in areas ranging from infrastructure safety and security, starting with the monitoring and maintaining of these assets, to green gasses (hydrogen and biomethane) and decarbonisation technology, such as CCS (carbon capture and storage).
“This agreement was initially signed three years ago between Snam and Politecnico di Milano, and its renewal today is not a mere gesture. It means strengthening a key understanding in energy transition, a matter central to the needs of companies, fundamental to developing new skills and open to the hitherto unexplored potential in research. This topic is at the heart of any development policy for Italy”, said Donatella Sciuto, Rector of Politecnico di Milano. “Sustainability is a priority for our university, which has always been at the forefront of green issues and technologies for decarbonisation. Sharing strategies, objectives and resources with Snam, a leader in this sector, sets us out on a clear path of growth”.
“Our agreement with Snam underscores the need to address energy transition synergistically, from a perspective of sustainability and innovation”, continued Andrea Sianesi, President of Fondazione Politecnico di Milano. “This partnership based on a long-term relationship will spearhead research into unchartered territory. As in this case, collaboration founded on continuous dialogue between company and university is a consolidated practice at Politecnico di Milano and its Foundation, and together we share common requirements, strategies and vision with our partner companies”.
