Sharing Cities’ Smart City Solutions – Webinar Series | E-mobility

Sharing Cities is hosting a series of technical webinars on the smart city measures that have been implemented during the project

Evento online, 11:00 - 12:30

The Event

Since 2016, the lighthouse cities of Lisbon, London and Milan have implemented several smart city measures in the framework of the project Sharing Cities. Based on that knowledge and technical experience, Sharing Cities is launching a series of short webinars to explore each of those measures one by one: digital social market, e-bikes, building retrofit, sustainable energy management system, smart lampposts, e-mobility, and urban sharing platform. Each measure is also supported by a smart booklet and playbook which go into greater detail on how to replicate and scale-up in your city.

The program

The sixth webinar of the series will be held on Tuesday, 20 October 2020, 11:00-12:15. This webinar will focus on e-mobility, and in particular of Electric vehicle (EV) sharing schemes and E-logistics. EV is a model of car rental thanks to which people can rent an electric car for short periods of time. They are often managed by mobility sharing service providers. From the municipalities’ perspective, EV sharing is an instrument that provides the local community with an alternative mobility service for their daily or occasional commuting, reducing the number of private vehicles in the city. Cities are hubs for the global goods distribution networks and an estimated one half of all road freight mobility takes place in cities. The road congestion and pollution this entails are expected to grow because of the increase in delivery via e-commerce. E-logistics is a way to cope with this issue. E-logistics is an electric fleet of vehicles that transport goods within cities. This can be made up of electric cars or vans, autonomous vehicles, or electric cargo bikes.

During the webinar, we will explore their implementation through case studies from lighthouse cities. Then, some tools for replication, scale-up, and implementation in other cities will be presented.
