Congress Centre Ville Ponti - Piazza Litta 2, Varese, Italy

The event

This event concludes GESTI.S.CO, a project on border-free management and coordination of emergencies and catastrophes, within the Interreg Italy- Switzerland Co-operation Programme. This is also the occasion to present the results achieved over this period. The speakers will describe the products created and how they are used to manage border-free emergencies, covering the following topics:

  • The basic aspects of Civil Protection in Lombardy and Protection of the Civilian Population in the Canton of Ticino (or Tessin), and the forecasting and weather warning systems either side of the border.
  • The risks, scenarios and maps that can help cross-border civil protection for towns and villages in Lombardy bordering the Canton of Ticino.
  • The role and functions of NUVRE (Nucleo Unitario di Valutazione e Ricognizione Eventi – a serious event evaluation and reconnaissance unit) in liaising between operations rooms in Lombardy and Ticino in the event of a cross-border emergency.

This event is directed at local authorities and operators involved in Civil Protection, especially those working in the Italian-Swiss cross-border area.
