Governance of transborder emergencies

The first results of the GESTI.S.CO. project presented to stakeholders

20/10/2020 - 29/10/2020

Online event

The event

Just one year from the convention to launch GESTI.S.CO (Gestione delle emergenze Senza Confini), its work and results are being shared with stakeholders through a series of webinars organised by the partners in the initiative, SUPSI (the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland), Regione Lombardia (the Lombardy regional government), ARPA Piemonte (the Regional Agency for Environmental Protection of Piedmont), Politecnico di Milano (and specifically its Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering DICA), the City of Como and the Canton of Ticino).

GESTI.S.CO is funded within the Interreg V-A Italy-Switzerland Co-operation Programme 2014-2020, and the aim of the project is to build a common framework to share information about rules, risks – especially those linked to natural hazards – and resources, as well as setting up an Italian-Swiss transborder operational team (NUVRE). Local operators will receive targeted training in all of the above, and everything will be included in local emergency plans. The project will also bring in the people living in the border region to give them better early warning information and providing information on how to adopt safer behaviour.
