Tech4Planet: to champion the creation of companies operating in environmental sustainability

Sustainability, territorial development and the strengthening of large centres of innovation. These are the objectives set by Tech4Planet, the second national hub of technological transfer created by CDP Venture Capital SGR, in collaboration with Politecnico di Milano. Tech4Planet intends to promote market access for new companies conceived within research labs and working in environmental sustainability, especially in EnergyTech, circular economy, sustainable manufacturing, smart mobility and water management.

Fondazione Politecnico di Milano is a co-investor in Tech4Planet, while agreements with institutional bodies and leading companies in the sector are now at the final stage and will add to the investment of up to 55 million euros being allocated by CDP Venture Capital. The potential lever effect is estimated at over 130 million euros in four years, with the creation and development of 60+ new businesses.

CDP Venture Capital’s Technology Transfer Fund is making an overall investment of up to 55 million euros in Tech4Planet Hub, and Politecnico di Milano, Politecnico di Torino and Politecnico di Bari are also involved in this project. Part of the total investment will be usedto launch new venture capital funds specialising in environmental sustainability, which will have the function of continuing to finance the most promising startups.

The phase of entrepreneurial acceleration to transfer inventions to the market will be at Politecnico di Milano’s “Gasometer” Innovation District, in collaboration with PoliHub and international specialised partners, and the process will also be open to research projects that are already established as a company within the entire network of Italian universities and research centres.
