The energy, warmth and pulsing spirit of Africa brighten the “Fuorisalone” fringe events in the Isola Design District, courtesy of SEE ME IN.

On the 8th and 9th of September, during Milano Design Week 2021, BRIChECO, the famous carpenter laboratory in Milan’s Stecca 3, Via De Castillia 26, in the shadow of Milan’s new vertical skyline, will host MULTICULTURAL INTELLIGENCE: Experiences from the SEE ME IN project. BRIChECO will be transformed into a vibrant multi-coloured African House, ready to host art and design work from Germany, Croatia, Hungary and Italy.

This is the focus of “SEE ME IN“, a project financed through the Interreg Central Europe Programme for Regional Development and whose Italian partners include Fondazione Politecnico di Milano as lead partner, the CGM National Consortium for Social Cooperation and the City of Milan. The project highlights the work of artists and artisans born outside the European Union who live legally in one of its countries, but who, due to barriers in language, bureaucracy and culture, often find it difficult to carve out their place in the market.

In the setting of African House, transformed physically and symbolically into an open space where many cultures meet and talk in the name of art and design, the protagonists are 6 multicultural businesses operating in various fields of design, fashion, urban furnishing and craftmanship.
