The event

IP-EXPERIENCE – Intellectual Property EXperiential PrOgram is a project co-financed by the European Union Intellectual Property Office-EUIPO. The programme was designed to teach the basic concepts of Intellectual Property to university students and start-uppers, while impressing on them the importance of respecting IP rights within the sphere of creative and highly technological startups. “IP EXPERIENCE – How to protect your software-based project? | Sharing experiences on IP exploitation between Italy and Spain” is the second event in the cycle of IP-EXPERIENCE workshops.

Giving a continuation to the previous seminar, the current one is focused on a specific and hot topic: How to protect software-based inventions? In the academic context inventions related to software are recurring and especially young future entrepreneurs are dealing with inventions related to the software. Mitiga Solutions and Nearby Computing, two Barcelona-based start-ups that will be invited to talk about how they are re-defining data management for natural hazards and smart industries/cities with their software-based solution. From the perspective of sharing experiences on how to promote intellectual property rights in the academic context, the event shows how young researchers are dealing with software-based inventions in the context of UPC University.
