The initiative

A project to promote intellectual property, consisting of a cycle of interactive meetings designed for university students, young researchers, start-uppers and young entrepreneurs. IP-EXPERIENCE is designed to impress on secondary and university students the strategic value of intellectual property rights, which can empower them throughout their future business and professional lives. A programme featuring workshops and live sessions held in Milan and Barcelona.
The project targets 15 to 24 years old, with different streams for the secondary school 15 to 18 year olds and the 19 to 24 year old university students, especially those taking technical and scientific subjects (engineering, architecture and design). Additionally, the project will promote material of interest for young researchers, PhD students, students in general, young entrepreneurs of the future and start-uppers.

Technical details

The project was launched with an opening on 11 February to discuss the value of intellectual property in university-company partnerships.
It will be followed by a programme of interactive workshops and training sessions to teach university students and secondary school students about the strategic value of intellectual property in their future business work and for professional growth. The programme calendar includes three sessions in Milan (7 April, 5 May and 11 June) at Politecnico di Milano, one in Barcelona (2 July) at Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya and an event with the pupils of a technical school of Lecco. The programme will conclude with a final event to present the results, held in October in Milan.

First results

The initiative will produce:
– a manual on the practices to leverage on intellectual property and joint Italian-Spanish initiatives
– several video interviews with corporate experts and high profile business people on the importance of intellectual property in a company
– a story-line game on intellectual property that combines fun and learning, in the form of a web app
