The initiative

Iper La Grande I and Fondazione Politecnico di Milano are running a competition for ideas to choose the name and visual identity for a new lager about to be launched on the market.
For nearly 50 years, “Iper La Grande I” has been championing the value of quality by offering products with a genuine taste at the right price.

The project’s objectives and the topic of this competition: The purpose of the competition is to come up with a name and a visual identity (label and graphics) for this lager. Project and technical skills are not required in the first phase, that of naming the lager.

The second phase to create a visual identity demands more specific output, and participants will have to prepare professional-level graphics. This means that budding creatives can take part in one or both phases, as each has its own selection process and awards its own prizes.

Who can take part?
The competition is open to all students studying at Politecnico di Milano for an undergraduate or Master’s degree, or are on a postgraduate course.

PHASE 1 — Thinking of a name

Phase 1 registration: from 31 May to 6 June, 23:50 CET.

Phase 1 submission: from 31 May to 9 June, 23:50 CET (people registered will receive the link for submitting their proposal)

The winner of PHASE 1: Fulvio Seva

Chosen name: La Birretta

Honorable mention: Chiara Barberi for the pay-off “Un sorso non basta” which will be associated with the winning naming

PHASE 2 — Visual design for label

(optional, after the conclusion of PHASE 1)

Phase 2 registration: from 14 June to 20 June, 23:50 CET.

Phase 2 graphic proposal submission: from 14 May to 28 June, 23:50 CET (people registered will receive the link for submitting their proposal)

The winner of PHASE 2: Giovanni Fazzini

Motivation: “The proposal, of futurist inspiration, recalls the world of craft beer. The label is modern, simple and at the same time linked to the world of beer and conviviality, thanks also to the choice of colors and shapes.”

Honorable mention: Lanzani Elisa

Motivation: “For having come very close to an Iper style and having integrated the logo in the pack in a harmonious way.”
